Kathy Hall Craig Dis it’s been sinking for decades, but not necessarily due to high tides, but due to the wooden foundations being impacted after several hundred years of holding the city above water … not to mention environmental damage caused by cruise ships that spew the worst of the worst maritime fuels and resulting toxic smoke being allowed into the port. But studies have shown that higher tides are also impacting it. So, sinking due to compaction of the mud on which the wooden foundations stand (about 120 mm in the 20th century) and sea-level rise (about 110 mm) combined. Look it up.
